Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk says that the situation around an attack on a Ukrainian medical evacuation vehicle near the village of Vodiane, Donetsk region, where two members of Ukraine’s Joint Forces were killed, should be addressed by the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) in Minsk.
“Firing at medics when they are evacuating the wounded is the same as attacking a person from the back. This is unacceptable both from an ethical point of view and from the view of international law,” the NSDC press service quotes Danyliuk as saying.
He stressed that such aggression threatens to derail peaceful talks on Donbas.
“This situation needs to be considered at a Trilateral Contact Group meeting,” Danyliuk said.
He expressed condolences to the families and friends of those killed during the shelling of the medical vehicle.
“My sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. They, like dozens of soldiers who died were real heroes of Ukraine who fearlessly and selflessly fulfilled their duty,” he said.
As reported, at about 10:50 a.m. on July 1, a medical evacuation vehicle of Ukraine’s Joint Forces was hit by an enemy anti-tank missile near Vodiane, Donetsk region. One soldier was killed on the spot, a female doctor later died of wounds in hospital.
