You're reading: Defense ministry reports one Ukrainian serviceman killed, five injured in Donbas

One soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was killed and five others were injured in the east of the country on Jan. 12, spokesman for the Defense Ministry Oleksandr Motuzianyk said.

“Last day, one Ukrainian soldier was killed, five were wounded,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Jan. 12.

Motuzianyk also said militants shelled Ukrainian military positions 62 times on Jan. 11. In all three sectors – Mariupol, Donetsk and Luhansk – the separatists widely used mortars and armored vehicles, and in the Donetsk and Luhansk sectors they fired using artillery.
