Ukraine plans to build 15 modern reinforced concrete ammunition storage facilities this year.

The construction of the facilities was considered on May 8 as part of the inspection by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak of the military arsenal in Khmelnytsky region, the ministry said on its website.

“This task is responsible, not easy, but doable. (…) We are building storage facilities that are not only reliably protected against enemy fire, they provide for the installation of modern automatic security, warning and fire extinguishing systems,” Poltorak said.

According to the ministry, 15 such storage facilities in three military arsenals are planned to be built in Ukraine in 2018. Relevant blueprints have already been drafted, tender procedures have been held and the construction will begin in May.

What is more, facilities to assemble and repair munitions will be created at the military arsenals, the minister said.

According to him, this model will allow Ukraine to arrange production, repairs and storage of ammunition in one place, which will create safe conditions for the civil population and will significantly reduce logistics costs.
