The deficit of Ukraine’s current account of the balance of payments in February increased by 2.8 times compared with January, to $399 million, according to preliminary data posted on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

The current account deficit compared to February 2016 decreased by 1.26 times.

According to the central bank, the growth of the current account deficit last month was due to a slowdown in the growth of exports of goods.

“The annual growth in exports of goods in February slowed down to 20.9 percent from 52.9 percent in January, which largely reflects the depletion of the temporary effect of the low comparison base last January,” the central bank said.

At the same time, the price situation remained favorable for Ukrainian exports.
