Up to 300 people are rallying near the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada building in Kyiv to demand the cancellation of parliamentary immunity and early parliamentary elections.

The protesters who gathered on Constitution Square are holding banners saying ‘Last summer of this Rada: Cancellation of immunity, new election law, early parliamentary elections’, ‘Heroes defend Ukraine, corrupt officials rob it – they are traitors’, ‘Let our battle be victory and let our victory be revenge’, and others.

The demonstrators have formed three groups based on their political affiliation and are holding flags with symbols of the Movement of New Forces led by Mikheil Saakashvili, the All-Ukrainian Association Svoboda, and Right Sector. They are also holding black-and-red flags.

Another group of demonstrators from the Azov National Corps is also standing near Hrushevskoho Street. Someone threw a smoke grenade, but the street itself has not yet been blocked to traffic.

A stage and loudspeakers have been installed on the square, and more than 1,000 other people have gathered in Mariyinsky Park near the parliament.

Security around the Rada building has been tightened, and National Police and National Guard forces have virtually surrounded it.
