Dnipro could buy at least 50 trolleybuses using the funds of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the press service of the city council has reported, referring to Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov.

“We have arranged the purchase of at least 50 trolleybuses using the EBRD funds and discussed the possibility of buying new trams,” the press service said, citing Filatov.

The press service said that Filatov on August 10 during his working visit to Britain held relevant negotiations in the head office of the EBRD in London with Deputy Director in the Municipal Team Lin O’Grady and Senior Banker Mark Magaletsky.

According to the report, the parties also discussed additional financing of the Central subway station.

Filatov also visited Cory Riverside Energy’s energy from waste plant. This is a project of Japan’s Marubeni Corporation.

“Earlier Filatov discussed prospects of construction of such a plant in Dnipro with top managers of Marubeni and Hitachi. The waste will transported by tow boats by water and then turned into energy,” the press service said.
