Sloviansk’s city court has found a resident of Horlivka guilty of fighting against Ukraine’s Armed Forces near Svitlodarsk, the press service of Donetsk region’s Prosecutor’s General’s Office (PGO) has said.

“The court has found that at the beginning of March 2015, a 43-year-old resident of Horlivka joined the ranks of the 3rd motorized rifle brigade of the so-called Ministry of Defense of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on his own initiative. He worked as a driver and mechanic. The accused took part in hostilities against units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Zaitseve village of the Bakhmut district, and fought near Svitlodarsk,” the office said on Tuesday.

The suspect was detained in the Zaitseve village in March 2018 by a fighter group from Ukraine’s SBU State Security Service near Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) area and subsequently arrested by the court.

“The convict will spend the next 9.5 years behind the bars,” the PGO office said.
