You're reading: Drills of Ukrainian Navy start at Black Sea waters

A group of ships, boats and support vessels of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sept. 24 left the quay wall of Odesa and went to sea to practice combat training missions, the ArmyInform agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported.

“In the northwestern part of the Black Sea, crews of ships will work out cohesion during maneuvers, carry out weapons checks, and train to organize communications, which will be accompanied by the exchange of data on lighting of air, surface and underwater conditions in the conditions of active and passive interference in the so-called crisis region. Directly at sea, sailors will learn to maneuver and evade enemy conventional attacks, conduct a series of naval combat exercises, for example, a battle with an enemy ship, repel air assaults, fight against hostile underwater saboteurs in an unprotected raid, and also work out elements of the doctrine on conducting mine action,” it said.

Crews of small armored artillery boats will perform combat exercises firing at sea and air targets.

According to the report, an important stage will be the development of exercises to assist an emergency ship: to come quickly to the rescue of an emergency facility and complete the entire spectrum of tasks in the struggle for survivability. In addition, interacting with naval aviation, military sailors will rescue personnel in distress and located on the surface of water.
