The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with a €160 million loan for the extension of the “green” line of the Kharkiv subway.
According to the bank’s website, the board of directors plans to consider this project on September 20 this year.
The EBRD noted the European Investment Bank (EIB) also plans to co-finance the same volume in the form of a sovereign loan, while the total volume of the project is about €320 million.
The EIB, which reported on the possibility of issuing such a loan in May of this year, in July said the project provides for the extension of the “green” subway line in Kharkiv by 3.47 km towards the airport, the construction of two metro stations, Derzhavynska and Odeska, the construction of depots and the purchase of 85 units of rolling stock.
It is assumed both stations and a section from the existing tunnels to the Derzhavynska station (959 meters) will be built in an “open way,” while tunnels between the new stations (2,514 meters) will be built using a tunnel boring system.
