You're reading: EBRD issues €10 million to Kharkiv for purchase of new trolleybuses

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and municipal enterprise Trolleybus Depot No. 2 (Kharkiv) have signed a loan agreement worth EUR10 million for the purchase of new trolleybuses and repair and diagnostic equipment, EBRD Senior Adviser for External Affairs Anton Usov has said.

The financing package will include an EBRD loan of €8 million and a €2 million loan of the Clean Technology Fund, Usov wrote on Facebook.

According to local media reports, with reference to director of Trolleybus Depot No. 2 Dmytro Lypovy, the terms of the contract for this project also presuppose funding from the city in the amount of EUR 2 million.

“On average, according to the price policy we have in the market, the approximate number of vehicles will fluctuate from 65 to 70 units,” he noted.

As reported, within the Ukraine Public Transport Framework approved by the EBRD in 2015, Odesa, Kyiv, Kremenchuk, Ivano-Frankivsk have purchased trolleybuses for the EBRD funds, while agreements have been also signed with Dnipro, and Mariupol.
