The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will continue supporting anti-corruption efforts and promoting good corporate governance in Ukraine, but this can only be done in cooperation with the authorities, EBRD Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Matteo Patrone has said.

He noted that supporting anti-corruption efforts and promoting good corporate governance is the main focus of the EBRD’s work in Ukraine. These goals can only be achieved in close cooperation with the authorities, Patrone told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, the recently signed memorandum of understanding with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is an important step in this direction.

Therefore, the bank hopes to cooperate with the government of Ukraine, Ukravtodor, and other state-owned enterprises and institutions to achieve the necessary anti-corruption reform and improve corporate governance, Patrone said.

The people of Ukraine will feel the results of our joint efforts, he added.
