The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine intends in 2019 to begin negotiations with the UK to sign a new agreement in the field of international trade and preferential conditions, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has said.

“In October 2018, UK Secretary of State for International Trade Liam Fox confirmed that it is a priority for London to establish preferential terms of trade with Ukraine without any delays. The future agreement will be based on the provisions of the Association Agreement [Ukraine-EU], a party to which is the United Kingdom,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv.

Britain and Ukraine have moved from consultations to the stage of technical meetings, Kubiv noted.

He also added that the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, together with the Foreign Ministry, is working on the form and procedures for introducing the institute of trade missions in foreign diplomatic institutions.
