You're reading: Ecumenical Patriarch’s rep Metropolitan of Gaul arrives in Kyiv to prepare Unification Assembly

A representative of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Metropolitan Emanuel of Gaul, has already arrived in Kyiv to prepare for the Unification Council, a source close to religious circles has said.

“Metropolitan Emmanuel arrived in Kyiv on Dec. 11,” the source told Interfax-Ukraine on Dec. 12.

As earlier reported referring to Archbishop Eustraty (born Zoria), the head of the UOC KP’s information department, members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC KP) were going to take part in the Unification Assembly. For this, they are going to discuss all the arrangements for the Assembly to be successful with a representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and other parties.

The Unification Assembly to create the local Orthodox Church in Ukraine is scheduled for December 15 to be held at St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Kyiv.
