The crisis committee at the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has announced the completion of measures aimed at saving natural gas and the switch to the routine mode, advisor to the minister Maksym Beliavsky has said.

“The crisis committee at the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has decided to announce the end of the emergency situation and the switch to the routine mode from March 7,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

As reported, with the introduction of the National Action Plan to save energy due to gas shortage in Ukraine on March 2, a decision was made to transfer combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) and thermal power plants (TPPs) to operation burning fuel from the reserve, mainly fuel oil, as well as to suspend lessons in a number of educational institutions.

Earlier, on March 1, the press service of PJSC Ukrtransgaz reported that Russia’s Gazprom since the beginning of 2018 has never provided the required pressure at the entry points the Ukrainian gas transport system (GTS) meeting at least the minimum level under the conditions of the transit contract.

Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Andriy Kobolev on the same day said about a shortage of about 10 million cubic meters of gas a day in Ukraine due to frosts and the refusal of Gazprom to supply gas and proposed imposing limitations on gas consumption in the country for several days.
