Wage arrears at state mines are currently Hr 350 million, it is necessary to increase subsidies in the national budget for their repayment, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Ihor Nasalyk has said.
“Volodymyr Groysman’s government received mines with Hr 18 billion of debts and Hr 850 million of wage arrears. Today, after two years and two months, the debt is Hr 350 million,” he said.
Nasalyk said in March 2014 Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s government accepted state mines with wage arrears of Hr 1.5 billion, although in the previous years the level of budget subsidies reached $2 billion per year.
The minister noted that in 2018 the amount of subsidies to state-owned coal enterprises was reduced to Hr 900 million from Hr 2.6 billion.
At the same time, he noted the proposal to increase subsidies to coal miners had already failed twice in the Rada, and called on the deputies to support him next week, on June 12.
