If the situation in Donbas deteriorates, sanctions against Russia should be expanded, Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser said.

“Until hostilities in the east stop, the implementation of reforms in Kyiv is difficult, especially if we are talking about the reforms related to the Minsk agreements,” Mikser said on Feb. 6 after a meeting of heads of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. The press service of the Estonian Foreign Ministry quoted him as saying to Interfax.

According to the minister, the recent revival of military activity in the east of Ukraine shows that Russia avoids the obligations that it has assumed under the Minsk agreements.

“Europe and the like-minded should be consistent that the sanctions against Russia should be maintained until the full implementation of the Minsk agreements Russia,” Mikser said.
