You're reading: EU Delegation sees it necessary to create independent Anti-Corruption Court in Ukraine

The Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli, notes the importance of creating an Anti-Corruption Court in Ukraine, and also stresses the importance of independent work of anti-corruption bodies.

Mingarelli said the fight against corruption is the main challenge and Ukraine needs specialized anti-corruption courts for this purpose, the press service of the EU Delegation to Ukraine said on Twitter on March 7.

The head of the office also stressed that the anti-corruption bodies of Ukraine should act independently, and independent experts should audit the work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

Mingarelli said that NABU and SAPO (Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office) are doing important work, especially in the last days it’s nice to see when courts resort to actions … It is important that future audit of NABU will be carried out by independent specialists, he said.
