BRUSSELS. July 26 – The Committee of Permanent Representatives in the European Union (COREPER) discussed Germany’s initiative regarding a possibility of sanctions against a number of Russian individuals and legal entities due to supplies of Siemens turbines to Crimea, a diplomatic source in the EU’s institutions told Interfax on July 26.

“I can confirm that the possibility to extend the anti-Russian sanctions list was discussed in committee today, based on a German initiative,” the source said.

“The discussion was consensual. Germany’s initiative found the broad support. The next step is technical work to prepare the relevant legal acts,” he said, revealing no names of individuals and companies that might be added to the sanctions list yet.
