EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom will meet with Ukrainian authorities, parliamentarians and business representatives during her working visit to Kyiv, the EU Delegation to Ukraine has reported.

“Amongst others, Commissioner will meet Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin,” the EU Delegation said.

The objective of the visit is to take stock of the progress achieved in putting the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement into practice, from a trade and broader business climate perspective, it said.

“Commissioner Malmstrom’s visit will also give the opportunity to discuss possible further market openings from the EU side, in order to deliver practical benefits to Ukrainian companies and citizens.

Finally, the next EUR 600 million portion of the EU Macro Financial Assistance will be addressed, the disbursement of which still depends on Ukraine fulfilling certain commitments,” it said.

According to the EU Delegation, Ukrainian exports to the EU have already increased by 5% since the provisional application of the deep and comprehensive free trade area as of January 1, 2016.

Malmstrom will be visiting Kyiv on September 29-30.
