You're reading: European Commission Vice President Dombrovskis to visit Mariupol

European Commission Vice President for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis will visit Mariupol, Donetsk region, on July 14 after the end of the EU-Ukraine summit, where he will focus on the EU assistance to Ukraine’s east.

During the visit, Dombrovskis will examine the condition of the EU humanitarian assistance, and also discuss further reforms and needs with representatives of the authorities and the local community, the press service of the EU Delegation to Ukraine reported.

In Mariupol, the EU vice president will visit the Center for Social Services for Internally Displaced Persons, whose reconstruction was assisted by the EU.

A press conference of Dombrovskis with the participation of Minister for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Vadym Chernysh and Donetsk Regional Governor Pavlo Zhebrivsky is scheduled in Mariupol.

In addition, Dombrovskis will visit the town of Talakivka, where the project on education in emergencies funded by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) is being implemented.

During the visit to Donetsk region, Dombrovskis will be accompanied by Head of the Cooperation Programs of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Berend de Groot and Head of the Delegation of the European Investment Bank in Ukraine Liliya Chernyavska.
