Ukraine had decided to join the competition for hosting the universal exhibition “Expo” in 2030 in Odesa.
On Dec. 15, its delegation presented the project to the 169th General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau in Paris.

The Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko unveiled the project, together with the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and a 16-year-old student of the Odesa Theater and Art College, musician, dancer and polyglot Karina Kardash. Due to the pandemic, the meeting was held via videoconference.

The application for holding a world exhibition in Odesa was approved on Oct. 6 by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The other countries contending for Expo-2030 are Italy (Rome), Russia (Moscow), South Korea (Busan) and Saudi Arabia (Riyadh).

The theme chosen for Expo-2030 is

Renaissance. Technologies. Future.

The Ukrainian presentation focused on the e-governance service “Diia“, which is a source of national pride because it is considered cutting edge in Europe.

A public council “Expo-2030 Odesa” has been organized in the city which includes sponsors and supporters from business, non-governmental organizations, and various specialists.
