The Munich Film Festival (Filmfest München) has announced a contest program for this year. The drama ‘Donbas’ of Ukrainian film director Sergei Loznitsa will be presented in the section of international independent cinema, Arthouse Traffic company has reported.

This year the Munich Festival will be held from June 28 to July 7.

As reported, the world premiere of “Donbass” was held on May 9. On May 18, the jury of the Un Certain Regard program at the 71st Cannes Film Festival, headed by actor and film director Benicio del Toro, presented the best direction award to Ukrainian film director Sergei Loznitsa for his film “Donbass.”

“Donbass” was created in coproduction with Germany, Ukraine, the Netherlands, France and Romania. The movie became one of the winners of the Eighth competitive selection of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema (Goskino). Filming took place in Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region).

The film is planned to be shown in Ukraine in 2018.
