A fire started inside the building of the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance near the Kontraktova Ploscha metro station on Mezhyhorska Street in Kyiv, leading to the evacuation of 20 people, the press service of the State Service for Emergencies has said.
“At 7.37 a.m. smoke spread at the Ministry of Finance, inside the building. The fire alarm was triggered. Some cables inside the elevator tower caught fire,” Svitlana Vodolaha, spokesperson for the Main Department of the State Service for Emergencies in Kyiv, has said.
She said the emergency squads had to evacuate 20 people from the building and take them to a safe location.
The fire was put out at 8.28 a.m. Six firefighter vehicles were called in to the scene. There are no immediate reports of casualties.
