To say that the 71-year-old film-maker Agnieszka Holland has range is to undersell her achievements. As a Polish maker of art house films she has been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Oscar three times, yet she has also directed episodes of The Wire and House of Cards.

The new film “Mr. Jones” follows Welsh journalist Gareth Jones, who first publicized under his own name the Holodomor, an artificial famine ordered by Soviet dictator Josef Stalin and carried out in Ukraine in 1932-1933. At least 3.9 million Ukrainians starved to death during this genocide.
