The fire burning at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s ammunition depot in Chernihiv region has been fully extinguished, Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Oleksiy Chernobai has written on his Facebook page.
“Sporadic explosions every one or two hours were continuing at two smoldering sites as of 9:00 p.m. They are not posing any threat to populated localities in the vicinity of the depot,” he said.
Armed Forces personnel are working together with rescuers from the State Emergency Service to put out smoke and smoldering from the fire and are removing remaining explosive items from the administrative area.
