The Kyiv-based YasenSvit company runs an egg-processing plant in Vasylkiv. The company is, in turn, owned by the Ovostar Union group, one of Ukraine’s leading agro-industrial firms and one of Europe’s five largest producers of eggs.

“Based on the Emergency Service’s photos, we identified that it was a hen house that caught fire (either for laying hens, or for young hens),” Concorde Capital, a Ukrainian investment company, wrote in its newsletter on June 4.

“We estimate (the) capacity of the damaged house is 0.2 million hens, which is 2.5% of Ovostar’s total company’s (sic) flock.”
