You're reading: First COVID-19 case confirmed in Zakarpattia region

The laboratory of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in Kyiv has confirmed the coronavirus infection in a resident of Mukacheve, Zakarpattia region, the press service of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration reported on Facebook.

“A resident of Mukacheve was admitted to the regional infectious diseases hospital on Tuesday, March 24. In Mukacheve, she was tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and a coronavirus infection was confirmed. The patient’s tests were sent to Kyiv to confirm or refute the diagnosis,” the report says.

At the moment, the woman is in satisfactory condition. All contact persons are established, they are recommended to be on 14-day self-isolation.

According to the headquarters of the anti-epidemic commission at Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, in total, 6,729 people are self-insulating in the region. Some 6,346 Zakarpattia residents, who returned from abroad, were registered with family doctors. Some 1,456 people were checked for compliance with the self-isolation regime.

It is noted that all services in the region continue to work in an intensive mode to control the spread of coronavirus.
