BERLIN/KYIV – The first meeting of German Chancellor Angela Merkel with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Berlin is scheduled for June 18, spokesman for the German government Steffen Seibert said when answering a question from Interfax.

Earlier, the German president’s administration reported that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier would receive Zelenskiy on June 18 in his Berlin residence, Bellevue Palace.

“On this day, Zelenskiy will also be received by the Chancellor,” Seibert said.

According to him, this will be Merkel’s first meeting with Zelenskiy.

“They already talked to each other on the phone, but have not yet met,” he said.

As Interfax-Ukraine has learned, on June 17 Zelenskiy will visit Paris, where he is to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron.
