You're reading: Fiscal Service reports on 7 percent rise in crossing border on first day of visa-free regime

The total number of passengers who crossed the customs border on June 11, on the first day of visa-free travel with the EU, increased by 7 percent, to 53,430 people, the State Fiscal Service has said, with reference to the customs adjacent to the EU countries (Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions).

According to its data, most passengers crossed the border in the area of Lviv customs (25,030) with the average daily rate for this customs being 23,600 (a 5.7 percent rise) and Zakarpattia customs (17,960) with the average daily figure standing at 14,010 (a 28.2 percent rise).

The service said 16,260 passenger cars and 2,340 trucks passed customs clearance, which is 16 percent and 18 percent more than the average daily figures for 2017.
