The Ukrainian Constitution will not make any changes for the special status of the Donbas region; the temporarily occupied territories should embark on decentralization like the rest of Ukraine, Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said.
“The Minsk agreements stipulate a reform of the Ukrainian laws, a constitutional reform, and the Constitution based on decentralization,” Prystaiko said at a briefing during the 16th annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy in Kyiv on Saturday.
“The side currently behind the contact line is being offered to realize that decentralization is their chance to develop.
“They can merge communities and be expecting certain opportunities, in particular financial ones, like Ukrainian regions and districts are doing now. That is maximum we can offer.
“We are not putting any special statuses into our Constitution,” Prystaiko said.
