You're reading: Fugitive drug lord Silver extradited to Israel from second attempt

U.S. and Israeli citizen Amos Dov Silver, who was detained in Ukraine following his August 15 escape from the Boryspil airport during his extradition, has been handed over to Israeli law enforcement agencies, the press service of the Kyiv prosecutor’s service said.

“The foreigner was delivered by an ordinary flight from the Boryspil International Airport convoyed by officers of the Security Service and the Alfa special force. In fact, the offender is transferred to Israeli competent bodies,” the press service said.

As reported, Silver has been wanted by Israeli competent bodies on the charges of leading a criminal organization, which has massively sold narcotic substances using popular messengers and social networks, involving underage persons in drug addiction and on the count of complicity in other crimes.

The drug lord was detained in Kyiv in March. Israeli law enforcement agencies sent a request to the Kyiv prosecutor’s office asking to extradite the criminal. On June 10, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office decided to extradite Silver to Israel on the basis of the Kyiv prosecutor’s office materials.

On August 15, the day of his scheduled extradition to Israel, the foreigner, who was convoyed by officers of the Ukrainian special service, ran away at the Boryspil International Airport. The Kyiv prosecutor’s office has registered a criminal case into his escape under Part 1 of Article 393 (the escape from a penitentiary or from under custody) of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.

On August 17, Silver was repeatedly detained in Uman, Cherkasy region.
