Ukraine has asked the EU for its assistance in technical re-equipment of check points in Donbas, First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group Iryna Gerashchenko said after a meeting the EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides in Kyiv.
“It is very important that he visits not only Kyiv, but also Ukraine’s east, in particular this time he visited Mayorsk and Bakhmut, saw the operation of check-points. (…) We addressed the European colleagues with a request to assist in the technical re-equipment of check points, which will help speed up the crossing of the contact line by citizens and will contribute to the fight against corruption at check points,” Gerashchenko wrote on the Facebook page on Tuesday evening.
According to her, Stylianides expressed concern about the trade blockade in Donbas, which, in his opinion, only further complicates the humanitarian and economic situation
