Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry and the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus are drafting a note regarding the detention of Ukrainian write Serhiy Zhadan in Minsk. Ukrainian diplomats accompanied him until he crossed the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, First Verkhovna Rada Deputy Speaker Iryna Gerashchenko has said.
She said that a representative of the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus Valeriy Zhyhun confirmed information that Zhadan was detained in Minsk and that he was in the Leninsky district police station at night.
“The Embassy and Ukrainian Foreign Ministry are drawing a note regarding the incident. This is a shame and it is time to raise the issue of inadmissibility of FSB actions in Minsk. They are trying to worsen our relations with Belarus via the creation of general black lists,” Gerashchenko said.
