You're reading: German Foreign Minister Baerbock Returns to Kyiv – Updated

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Kyiv again for a two-day visit, at the invitation of Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

“The ministers will hold talks, the key topics of which will be the coordination of efforts within the Normandy format, the implementation of a comprehensive containment package for Russia, the development of trade relations, the strengthening of energy security, and the intensification of dialogue on Germany’s historical responsibility to Ukraine,” the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced.

During the visit, the German Foreign Minister also plans to visit the disengagement line in Donbas. On February 7,  Kuleba and Baerbock were to hold a joint online press conference.

Baerbock will not meet with President Volodymyr  Zelensky, contrary to earlier announcements, local media outlets reported later that day. A meeting was planned with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal instead. Scheduling difficulties were cited as the reason the meeting would not take place.
