Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has created the coordination center for the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020.

The press service of Ukraine’s Education and Science Ministry reported on Thursday that the resolution was passed at a government meeting on Nov. 30.

“A coordination center for the implementation of the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020 has been created to effectively solve issues of concern appeared during the implementation of the Horizon 2020 projects,” the ministry said.

Education and Science Minister Liliia Hrynevych said that the coordination center will provide for quick and effective solution of issues of concern and take care of Ukrainian programme participants to meet their interests. It would become a platform for approving the concerted positions and operations of power agencies in the area of implementation of the programme.

The government also created a commission to select representatives and experts to the programme committees of the EU Framework Programme responsible for selection of the research projects to be financed.

In 2015, Ukraine has become an associated member of the Horizon 2020 Programme. Today Ukrainian scientists are participants of 61 consortiums involved in the programme. Their share of the project budgets exceeds 11.5 million euro. The annual fee paid by Ukraine to the programme budget is around 5.8 million euro. The country would receive the half of it back via technical assistance tools.
