Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has narrowed a list of dual use goods for imports of exports of which the customs agencies earlier demanded additional permits.

The government passed the resolution at a meeting on March 10.

“I stress that this concerns not only import, but also exports of Ukrainian goods. This decision would relax exports from Ukraine and would give more opportunities for a breakthrough of our national industry. The total cost of 53 groups of goods exempted from extra supervision and produced in Ukraine is almost $1.8 billion. We hope that it would be easier to work for business in these sectors,” First Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Maksym Nefyodov said.

He said that earlier citizens often had problems with imports of portable video cameras, microphones and other devices to Ukraine.

“We want to bring this practice in line with international requirements. This does not narrow powers of our law enforcement agencies in fighting crimes,” Nedyodov said.
