The Ukrainian government has approved a one-off payment of Hr 100,000 to each of the Ukrainian sailors and prisoners released by Russia, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova said.

“I have just taken part in the second meeting of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers. An important decision was made: every one of the 35 Ukrainian citizens released on Sept. 7 will receive a one-time payment of Hr 100,000,” Denisova wrote on Facebook on Sept. 11 afternoon.

The Ministry of Affairs of Veterans, Temporary Occupied Territories, and Internally Displaced Persons will be in charge of the implementation of the government’s decision, she said. The payments will be made in accordance with the established procedure.

“I believe social support for the recently released military sailors and political prisoners and their families is extremely important,” Denisova said.
