The government of Japan has completed the delivery of medical equipment to 11 Ukrainian hospitals, purchased through non-project grant assistance under the World Program for Official Development Assistance (ODA) for $3.6 million.
During the presentation of the final program for the delivery of an X-ray device to the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital on January 11, on the whole, within the framework of the program, the Japanese government supplied eight digital X-ray radiographic systems Radrex and six endoscope systems Evis Exera III to Ukrainian clinics, acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun said.
X-ray systems were delivered to regional hospitals in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv and Zhytomyr regions, as well as to the Bolovodsk central district hospital, Starobelske regional territorial medical association and Drohobych city hospital No. 1.
The grant program has been in operation since 2014.
Equipment under the program was purchased by the British purchasing agency Crown Agents, which cooperates with the government of Japan in the field of health procurement.
As the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi noted during the presentation, despite the completion of this program, the government of Japan has other mechanisms that will allow it to continue to supply medical equipment to Ukraine.
