Two men were killed and a woman injured when a grenade exploded in central Kyiv on the night of Oct. 22, police reported.

The deadly blast took place around 11 p.m. on Pushkinska Street on the steps of a three-story building.

The police stated that they did not yet know the circumstances of the explosion. Some early news reports speculated that the two men might have mishandled a grenade, causing it to detonate, and that its fragments injured a woman who was passing by. There has been no confirmation of that from police.

The incident took place at a building hosting several offices, including that of Hahn Air airline, the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and a gadget store. It is located near the ProRock pub, the Kyiv headquarters of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and the office of the Kyiv Post.
