Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has asked the supervisory board of national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy to review a decision to give large rewards to board members.

“I am concerned about this decision. I have sent an official letter to the independent supervisory board that they review their decision and informed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine,” the prime minister said in parliament on June 8.

“My position here is absolutely clear: it’s too much,” he said.

The prime minister said that the decision is not in the competence of the government.

“Naftogaz is a company managed by the independent supervisory board. This is not the competence of the government, but independent boards,” Groysman said.

As reported, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce ordered to pay $2.56 billion to the Ukrainian company by Russia’s Gazprom.

At the end of May, the supervisory board of Naftogaz Ukrainy decided to reward 41 employees of the company for the amount of 446.3 million for contribution in winning the gas supply and transit lawsuits in the Stockholm arbitration process against Russia’s Gazprom.
