Ukraine’s Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman thinks Ukraine will benefit from Kyiv’s decision to discontinue the economic cooperation program it started with Russia in 2011, the government web portal stated.

“It is Russia who made unacceptable steps: the war in Donbas, the economic pressure. So, we were forced to make such a decision. Our exports to Europe and Asia are growing. We will emerge only stronger from this break-off,” Groysman said.

Today Ukraine needs to build manufacturing facilities to make its own goods, he said. “I am glad that we have weaned ourselves off our dependence on Russia. Our own potential is huge,” Groysman said.

It was reported that on March 21 the Ukrainian government tore up the 2011-2020 program for economic cooperation with Russia. The government suspended the document and instructed the Foreign Ministry to notify the Russian government accordingly.
