Natural gas prices for the Ukrainian population will not rise in the near future, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said.

“I will not allow any increase in gas tariffs for the population. And those who argue about a possible rise in prices by 40 percent should work responsibly or write a resignation letter,” he said.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers in spring 2016 extended for a year until April 1, 2017 resolution No. 758 on the special obligations of Naftogaz Ukrainy for the sale of gas to the population and heating companies on favorable terms.

Naftogaz Chief Commercial Officer Yuriy Vitrenko on Feb. 14 said the price of natural gas for the population might be increased by 40 percent from April 1, 2017 if the effect of these special obligations is not extended.
