Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has instructed to improve the rail connection with Mariupol (Donetsk region) until the end of this year, increasing the number of pairs of trains to 26-28 per day.

“I see the initiatives of Ukrzaliznytsia, which is normal, but we need to continue working to make the situation better,” Groysman said after a meeting with acting chairman of the board of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Kravtsov, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers said on Saturday.

So, the number of pairs of trains should be increased to 26-28 per day, and the travel time will be shortened.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, work is underway to expand the capacity of the region. Thanks to the actions already carried out, the majority of the enterprises of Mariupol and nearby settlements switched to the railway as the main way of delivery of products. Thus, the load on local roads is reduced.

Until the end of the year the state company plans to purchase and update at least 200 passenger cars.

“During 3-5 years it is necessary to show a new quality of the railway for passengers,” the prime minister said.
