You're reading: Health Ministry: Intl organizations save up to 40 percent of budget for medicines

International organizations have saved up to 40 percent of the budget during procurement of medicines, and some medicines were procured at the price 96.2 percent less compared with the procurement of the Health Ministry in 2015, the press service of the ministry has reported, referring to a report of the Accounting Chamber.

“The Accounting Chamber on August 22 presented a report on efficiency of medicine procurement via international organizations. The conclusion of the report is that procurement of medicines via international organizations is now more cost-effective than procurement via the Health Ministry,” the ministry said.

Among flaws of procurement via international organizations mentioned by the Accounting Chamber is the imperfect accounting of medicine stocks and calculations how many medicines each region needs.
