You're reading: High Council of Justice dismisses Romaniuk as head of Supreme Court of Ukraine following his resignation

The High Council of Justice has dismissed the head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Yaroslav Romaniuk in connection with his resignation.

On December 14, the Supreme Council of Justice decided to dismiss in connection with their applications for resignation Iryna Bukhtiyarova as judge of the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine; Volodymyr Karaban as judge of the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine; Olena Popovych as judge of the Higher Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases; Natalia Skoryk as judge of the Economic Court of Chernihiv region; and Yaroslav Romaniuk as judge of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, the Office of Information and Communication of the High Council of Justice reported on December 14.

In addition, the High Council of Justice decided to dismiss Alla Borovikova as judge of the Kommunarsky District Court of Zaporizhia.

At the same time, the High Council of Justice refused to dismiss Dmytro Sokurenko as judge of the Appellate Court of Kyiv.

As reported, Romaniuk said that on July 27, 2017, he decided to end his participation in the contest for the post in the new Supreme Court and sent a relevant application to the High Qualification Commission of Judges. He stressed that he did it for personal reasons, which he does not intend to discuss in the media.
