Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has said that an international tender to build a bridge in Zaporizhia has been announced, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reported on Tuesday.

“This bridge should finally settle the acute transport problem in Zaporizhia. It has been accumulated over the years, because the bridge could not be completed. Today, a real step has been taken. I hope that real work will begin in the spring to connect the left and right banks of the Dnipro River with a highway,” the prime minister of Ukraine said.

After announcing the winner, first stage construction will begin, which is planned to be fully completed in a few years.

“A large complex of work is ahead. The responsibility of Ukravtodor and the Ministry of Infrastructure is great. But I am convinced that they will manage it,” Honcharuk said.

According to the ProZorro e-procurement platform, the expected cost is Hr 12.340 billion. The minimum price decrement is Hr 61.703 million.

The auction is scheduled for January 31, 2020.

Head of Ukravtodor Oleksandr Kubrakov said that the construction of the Zaporizhia bridge is one of the priorities of the state agency.

“We plan to complete the first phase of the facility in two years. This includes the construction of 21 artificial structures, including two bridges across the Dnipro River with exits to the Prybrezhna Highway and Soborny Avenue. I believe that everything will work out. It’s time to move from dream to action,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Construction of a highway across the Dnipro River in Zaporizhia started in 2004.
