Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Vasyl Hrytsak, has said that Ukraine considers members of the ‘Wagner PMC’ to be militants of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

“On December 28, 2016, amendments were made to the legislation of Russia, which allowed non-military personnel to be involved in military tasks regarding the suppression of terrorist activities outside of Russia, while such persons are considered to perform military service duties … Thus, from December 28, 2016 we consider members of the private military campaign of Wagner to be the servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces,” Hrytsak said at a briefing in Kyiv on Saturday.
