Representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine gathered for a protest in the government neighborhood in central Kyiv on Tuesday against the adoption of new labor legislation.

Several hundred people gathered on the Independence Square, from where they walked along Khreschatyk Street toward European Square and then up Hrushevskoho Street toward the buildings of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada.

The Federation of Trade Unions organized the rally, which was supported by the Confederation of Free Trade Unions, the Independent Miners’ Trade Union, the Free Trade Union of Railway Workers, and some other unions.

The marchers are protesting against new legislation on labor sponsored by the government, as they believe it violates human rights. Additionally, the organization insists that the existing trade union system can be reformed only with the involvement of the unions themselves.
