Hungary urges not to restrict rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine, including the right to dual citizenship, State Secretary of the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary Miklos Soltesz has said.

“Since we are talking about two friendly nations and nations that honor the support and development of national minorities, as well as the support and development of the rights of national minorities, I consider it absolutely natural that Ukraine with the new legislative acts does not intend to limit in any way the rights, which were acquired by national minorities,” Soltesz said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

He specified that he was speaking about education in the Hungarian language in Ukraine, the use of the native language, and the issue of dual citizenship.

He expressed confidence that Ukraine does not intend to restrict rights of the Hungarian national minority. “We are absolutely sure that such a decision will be adopted that will further deepen friendly relations between our two peoples,” Soltesz said.
