You're reading: IFES Ukraine: Join discussion at 7 p.m. today on US presidential elections – any lessons for Ukraine?

Starting at 7 p.m. Kyiv time on Nov. 3, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Ukraine will host a two-hour webinar about the U.S. presidential election today.

“Join us to learn about American elections, draw a comparison on the strengths and weaknesses of the U.S. and Ukrainian electoral systems, hear first-hand information on the progress of the ongoing election, and to draw parallels with the Ukrainian elections to see what Ukraine can learn from the U.S vote. Prominent Ukrainian and American political scientists, experts, election observers will meet to bring their valuable insights and reflect on the global impact of this year’s U.S. elections, in particular, for Ukraine,” according to the organizers.

Simultaneous English-Ukrainian interpretation, as well as sign language interpretation into Ukrainian, will be provided.

The speakers will discuss:

  • Impact of COVID-19 and key challenges of this year’s elections;
  • Campaigning and influence of social media, disinformation;
  • Guaranteeing the rights of people with disabilities in the U.S. and Ukrainian elections;
  • U.S. electoral system;
  • The role of primaries;
  • Global impact of this year’s U.S. elections, specifically, for Ukraine.
